Architecture

The architecture of the Centre boasts of a blend of the traditional and the modern. The centre now houses a Koothambalam ( a special theatre space designed for the performance of Kutiyattam) and a Kuzhi Kalari (pit shaped performance space below floor level) for the martial art form of Kerala known as  Kalaripayattu (a training centre for martial arts)

The interior walls of the Kuzhi Kalari showcase mural paintings depicting the different postures of the Kalaripayattu artistes. The outer wall surrounding the pit depicts the evolution of the traditional theatre forms of Kerala, both folk as well as classical.

The structural edifice is interspersed with water bodies nurturing lilies as well as lotus. Soon a pond of archeological importance in the campus will be restored to its elegant past. The large facade may also function as a performance space on special occasions. A historical museum exhibiting masks, headgears and other artifacts is also on the anvil.
