Centre for Performing Arts

Ranga Kala Kendram

The Centre for Performing Arts (Ranga-kala-kendram) is an institution devoted to the presentation and preservation of classical and contemporary theatre forms, dance, music, sculpture, painting, martial arts, movies etc. conforming to international standards. It is an institution under the ‘Vision Varkala’ Infrastructure Development (VIVID) Corporation, an initiative of the Planning and Economic Affairs Department, Government of Kerala, functioning under the chairmanship of the Hon, Chief Minister.

The centre will also provide stage for art forms from other parts of the country. It aims to impart to the visitors an experiential understanding of our rich and diverse culture.

Regular presentations of programs would commence from the first quarter of 2022 and would feature eminent artists and ensembles. To start with, performances would be held in the week-ends.

It is part of the plan to hold art & cultural festivals from time to time in the lawns of the Centre admission to which will be free to the public. There will be seats reserved for the members.

The centre will host seminars and workshops for practitioners as well as scholars in the areas of literature, theatre, dance, music, painting etc.

It is one of our avowed aims to bring to the notice of international institutions like the UNESCO our Martial arts like Kalaripayattu as a glowing example of indigenous art that keeps to the oral and intangible tradition from ancient times.
